Measuring 3.8 by 2.1 by 0.4 inches (HWD), the all black Sony X Series Walkman (NWZ-X1051) boasts a super crisp, 3 inch, 432 by 240 pixel organic light emitting diode (OLED) touch screen and a unique sparkly (but not overly flashy) body that resembles a cross cut slab of granite. The iPod touch, has a 3.5 inch screen with a slightly higher resolution (480 by 320), but the touch is also bigger than the X Series.

Microsoft Corp. met with Yahoo Inc. to discuss the software makers unsolicited takeover bid earlier this week, a breakthrough that could be the first step toward a friendly deal between the two rivals.

The meeting occurred Monday near Yahoos Sunnyvale headquarters, according to a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke Friday on the condition of not being identified because the preliminary talks havent been formally disclosed.

No investments bankers attended Mondays meeting, nor was there any discussion about whether Microsoft is willing to raise its offer, initially valued at $44.6 billion, or $31 per share. Yahoos board already has rejected that bid, arguing the companys Internet franchise is worth more.

Although its unclear whether Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer and his Yahoo counterpart, Jerry Yang, attended Mondays meeting, senior management from both companies were on hand.

The gathering, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, gave Microsoft its first chance to sell Yahoo on the rationale for the proposed marriage since the software maker unveiled its plans six weeks ago.

Since then, Yang has been exploring different ways to ward off Microsoft. The alternatives have included possible alliances with Internet search and advertising leader Google Inc., News Corp.s MySpace.com and Time Warner Inc.s AOL.

Microsoft has held firm with its bid and warned its prepared to pursue a hostile takeover if Yahoo continues to resist.

Most industry analysts believe neither side wants to engage in an acrimonious battle and expect Microsoft to resolve the impasse with a slightly higher bid.

Investors arent so sure the stakes will be raised. Yahoo shares fell 79 cents to $26.71 Friday while Microsoft shares shed 66 cents to $27.96. At that price, Microsofts offer — made partly in Microsoft stock — is worth about $40 billion.

The saga could still take several weeks to play out and may not be resolved until Yahoo releases its first-quarter earnings April 22. With Yahoo mired in a two-year slump, the first-quarter results could sway Microsofts next move.

The waiting game works in Googles favor by distracting two of its biggest rivals while it strives to extend its dominance of the Internets lucrative search and advertising market. Google added another layer of muscle this week by completing its $3.1 billion acquisition of online ad service, DoubleClick Inc.

Microsoft believes a combination with Yahoo will pose a more serious threat to Google.

By finally meeting with Microsoft executives, Yahoo could be laying the groundwork for more serious negotiations. Or Yahoos board could just be touching base with Microsoft to show shareholders that it heard out its suitor before working out an alternative deal.

Yahoos other options have been considered a long shot by most analysts and now there are signs that at least two of its potential partners arent interested in getting together.

Rupert Murdoch, the chief executive of News Corp., downplayed his interest in a Yahoo deal at a conference this week. And AOLs plan to buy online social network Bebo for $850 million in a deal announced Thursday may make a combination of AOL with Yahoo more complicated.

Google has offered to work with Yahoo, but analysts say antitrust regulations will make it difficult, if not impossible, for those two companies to become business partners.

Yahoo still doesnt appear to be any rush to resolve the saga, based on how its handling a key deadline for nominating candidates to supplant its current board. Microsoft has threatened an attempt to oust Yahoos 10 directors if it cant broker an amicable takeover.

Last week, Yahoo postponed the deadline from Friday to 10 days after the date Yahoo announces its annual meeting.

Yahoo has no plans to disclose the meeting date before April and may not do so until its first-quarter earnings come out, according to a person close to the company. The person wasnt authorized to be identified publicly.

Sounds like that rumor about a new, smaller Xbox 360 coming next year might have a shorter life than a red-ringing console. Specifying the release of "slimmed down SKU in 2009", Microsoft representative let us know today that "While we dont normally comment on rumors like this, we can tell you that we have no plans to release a new console in 2009". Yep, rumor assassinated, just like that. Of course, there still exists the possibility that Microsofts just playing coy to prevent a little bit of Osborne effect from creeping in during their heated battle with the PS3 -- but they did go out of their way to directly comment on the rumor, so take it as you will.

Apple have released the next update of their iPad, iPod and iPhone operating system to version 6.1.3.
Earlier in the March when the betas were out, it was suggested that jailbreakers shouldnt upgrade to this version should it become live because it patches the exploits used by Evasion to achieve an untethered jailbreak on all iDevices running iOS 6.x.

A little definition will suffice. Tethered jailbreak means that when the device is powered off or run out of battery, one will need to connect the device to the computer to boot up again using Redsn0w
On the other hand, Untethered jailbreak means that if device is powered off or battery runs down, device will boot up normally without the need to plug into a computer nor boot up with Redsn0w

Well, finally, iOS 6.1.3 is out and some people would have failed to heed to warning not to upgrade their devices to the latest version if  they intend on keeping their untethered jailbreak achieved in iOS 6.1.2.

All hope isnt lost as some devices can still be jailbroken untethered on iPhone 3GS old bootrom and tethered on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS new bootrom and iPod 4th generation.

Like most of us, our headphones will eventually come to an end out of nowhere. Mine just died as I was just listening to some music on my chair. I was pretty upset as this is my second set and both was pretty pricey. I had an Audio Technica ATH-CKS55BK which was a real pleasure for bass and the Sol Republic Amps, which gives me a clear crisp sound. I had one for a year and the other for a week until it breaks (respectively). So I decided to go "What the heck" and just try to fix it.

Steps:

• Find where the disconnect happens in your cable.
  • Simple twist your cable 90 degrees until you get your sound back. 
  • Mark the spot
• Strip the wire and check if it is broken or not.
  • It will look like the cable is loose (sorry no picture!)
• If so, you can cut the cable there
• You want to make excess cable exposed as you will have to twist it together
• make sure to slide you Heatsink tube NOW, later would just make it ugly

• Twist the cable and apply some heat to remove any enamel coating
  • Plug it in to make sure you have a solid connection!
• Solder together

• Seal with Heat sink Tube!
• Make sure to apply heat as a distance, as close range fire will burn the tubing

This is a super quick and easy process. You will lose some length on your headphones due to tying them together, and the closer it it to the ear-bud, the smaller your margin of error is! It was pretty nerve wrecking as I was not sure if it is going to work or not; the key is to make sure you have a solid connection before you solder it.

The sounds was similar quality, depending on how solid your connection is - you may hear cracks from loose connection. Try it on some cheap pairs before you do your expensive one! Good luck!

Enhanced Admin Console - Users will notice new tools for managing tasks and queues created with the Task Queue API, and more visibility into index processing.



Improved Java Compatibility - This release adds support for new filter operators and inheritance to JPA and JDO as well as support for JAXB, the single most requested feature for the Java SDK.



This was also the first release we "previewed" with developers before formally rolling out changes. Thanks very much to all the developers that gave us feedback on the preview release. It appears that the 808 PureView has finally started leaving Nokias factories and making its way to retailers.

Even though Nokia hasnt mentioned a word about it, weve received several tips in the last few days that the monster cameraphone has appeared in various stores, mostly in Asia. We even got in touch with a seller from Singapore, who was able to confirm the availability of the smartphone and send us the following photo as proof.
